Unpopular opinion: Wizkid is overrated and Davido carries the culture

My brother, I say this with all due respect to the Starboy fans. I have been listening to Nigerian music since the days of Fela and King Sunny Ade. I have seen eras come and go. But this idea that Wizkid is the undisputed king of Afrobeats? I beg to differ.

Davido has been consistent since 2011. He drops hits, he shows up for his fans, he pays his artists well. Wizkid releases an album every four years, goes on world tour, and comes back like he did us a favour. See ehn, talent is not the only thing. Consistency and loyalty to your base matter. Davido is always in Lagos, always in the club, always in the studio. Wizkid is in London or America half the time.

Which one of them actually carries the culture on their back? Davido does. He signs new acts, he promotes the sound globally, he doesn't disappear. Wizkid is a great musician but he is not the culture bearer. Who do you think truly represents the Nigerian music spirit?
