NIS fires OIS Services, Nigerian visas now handled by our missions in US

So NIS don finally cut OIS Services o. As in, the company wey dey collect visa applications for our missions for US don get their appointment terminated with immediate effect. This is from a public notice today, July 9, 2026, from the NIS spokesman DCI Akinsola Akinlabi.

Now if you be Nigerian for US and you want to apply for visa, you go submit directly to the embassy for Washington DC or the consulates for New York and Atlanta. No more middleman. The funny thing na the US side too don reduce their visa processing hubs for Africa from almost 50 to just 20, and Lagos na one of the lucky ones wey remain.

This kind thing just show how both countries dey tighten their borders. If you get plans to travel, make you monitor NIS official channels because this one na immediate effect. No time to waste.
