Four suspects arrested over Ojoo mayhem in Ibadan
4 months ago
Four suspects have been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command in connection with the civil unrest that rocked parts of Ibadan on Wednesday. The violence followed the alleged killing of a man identified as a Yoruba man during a confrontation with some people believed to be Hausa men in the Ojoo area.
The police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed in a statement that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku for a comprehensive investigation. He said, "Four suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the incident and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, where a comprehensive investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery, the mob action, the ensuing public disturbance, and all related acts of criminality."
Another person also lost their life as a result of the unrest on Wednesday. This is a very tense situation and we need to ask ourselves — how many more lives will be lost before we learn to resolve disagreements without violence?
