So the Nigeria Police has been ordered to bar retired officers from the Presidential Villa main gate because they want to protest their own pensions. These are men and women who spent decades serving this country, and now they are being treated like criminals trying to break into Aso Rock. We are talking about officers who received as low as ₦1.6 million after 35 years of service and now survive on ₦30,000 monthly pensions. If the police can't even protect their own from poverty, what hope do the rest of us have?
