Moses Simon Alleges Enugu Rangers Rejected Him Because He Was Not Igbo

Super Eagles star Moses Simon has made a serious allegation against Enugu Rangers, claiming the club refused to sign him early in his career because he was not Igbo. In an interview with UrbanDwellSport, the Paris FC winger revealed he spent three months training with the Flying Antelopes, captaining the screening team, yet was overlooked for a contract.

Simon stated: "I went to Rangers and trained with them for three months. I wasn't signed but I was training with them. In fact, I was the captain of the 'screening' team. I've never told anyone this story, this is the first time, but it was a disgrace, I was dropped because I was not Igbo." He added that an Igbo player who trained for just one week was handed a professional contract while he was told it was because he was from the north.

This is a damning accusation against one of Nigeria's most storied clubs. If true, it exposes a rot in our football system where talent takes a backseat to ethnicity. How many other players have been denied opportunities simply because they were not from the right region? Enugu Rangers must respond to this directly.
