Keyamo just released CCTV footage and Peter Obi is not looking good
4 months ago
So Festus Keyamo has come out with CCTV evidence from Abuja airport and it seems Peter Obi's story about his car being clamped does not hold water. The Minister of Aviation released a statement yesterday saying Obi's driver parked in a drop-off zone at the domestic terminal on July 4th and left the vehicle unattended for about 30 minutes. According to Keyamo, the security staff on duty did not even know it was Obi's car when they clamped the tyres because nobody was inside the vehicle.
Keyamo is now demanding that Obi issue a public apology to the airport workers he tried to paint as his persecutors. He also wants Obi to go back and pay the N25,000 fine for wrongful parking, saying Obi used what he called influence peddling to get the vehicle released without paying. The minister said, and I quote: 'He cannot be bigger than the law.'
Now I am not a fan of this government and I know Keyamo is a known APC loyalist, but if the CCTV footage truly shows what he described, then Obi has some explaining to do. You cannot claim political persecution every time a traffic rule is enforced against you. My question is simple: if the roles were reversed and it was a common man whose car was clamped, would he have access to the airport manager at 8:30pm to have his vehicle released without paying the fine? Or is influence peddling only a problem when it is someone else doing it?
