I lent my whole savings to a 'friend' and she vanished like harmattan dust

This happened years ago when I just started at Agege Market. I was still learning the ropes, still trusting everybody wey dey smile for my face.

One woman, Mama Nkechi, she sell fabrics three shops away from me. Every morning she go greet me, ask about my children, even buy puff-puff for my Tunde when he was small. She acted like my big sister for that market.

One day she come cry to me say her supplier in Balogun dey press her. She need money to restock before the price go up. She promise to pay back in two weeks with interest. I was young, I wanted to help. I gave her everything I saved for three years. ₦85,000. My whole life savings.

That night she packed her shop. Gone. Not even a goodbye.

I cried for three days straight. My husband didn't even know how much I lost because I was ashamed. I started waking up at 4am, selling until 9pm. Double shifts for six months. I couldn't even afford to buy meat for my children that period. E pain me die.

Nowadays when people come to me with sob stories I just smile small and say 'God go help you.' I don't lend money to anybody wey I no fit afford to lose. That lesson cost me ₦85,000 but e save me from bigger wahala later.

Anybody wey borrow money from market people before? Abeg share your own story make I know I no be the only fool 😤
