Daniel Bwala says Atiku and Peter Obi hate Nigerians. He might be right.

Daniel Bwala, President Tinubu's Special Adviser on Policy Communication, went on X yesterday and said something that has people fighting in the comments. He accused Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of hating Nigerians. Not just disagreeing with the government, but actually hating the people they claim to want to lead. Bwala pointed to two specific incidents. One, Peter Obi allegedly violated airport traffic control rules, his car was clamped, and he claimed they wanted to kill him. Bwala called it toddler ranting shit. Two, when Oyo State pupils and their teachers were rescued from abduction, Atiku did not say a word. No empathy, no solidarity. Just silence from a man who is quick to tweet Nigeria is doomed whenever there is a crisis.

Bwala's exact words were that these two politicians love to use the misfortunes of people for politics, but they hate the very idea of human dignity and freedom. He added that desperate people do desperate things. Now, I am not a fan of this government's communication strategy. But Bwala asked a question that deserves an answer. If Peter Obi and Atiku genuinely want to lead this country, why do they only show up when things are bad? Why is there no public acknowledgment when security forces actually do their job and rescue children? Why is the default position always that Nigeria is doomed, even when there is progress?

I am not saying Bwala is a saint. He works for Tinubu, and his job is to defend the administration. But that does not mean everything he says is false. The opposition in this country has a pattern. They criticize every failure, which is their right. But they ignore every success, which is their problem. If you want power, you must show that you can celebrate with Nigerians even when you are not in government. Otherwise, people will start to wonder if you actually care about the country or just the position. So I ask you, NaijaHub. Is Bwala wrong?
