The day my lecturer asked me to define 'opportunity cost' and I just looked at my empty plate

I swear, some of these Economics lecturers just dey play with our lives. Yesterday, Dr. Okonkwo was explaining opportunity cost and he pointed at me and said, 'Nnamdi, give me a real life example.'

My guy, I looked at my plate. I had just finished calculating if I should buy the N500 rice or the N700 jollof from Mama Ngozi's buka. I chose the rice because I needed the extra N200 for data. So I stood up and said, 'Sir, opportunity cost is the N200 worth of data I sacrificed to eat rice instead of jollof.' The whole class scattered with laughter. Dr. Okonkwo just shook his head and said, 'That's a 300 level answer, not a 100 level one.'

Omo, I swear, when your feeding budget is N2,500 per day, every decision becomes a microeconomics lecture. The real question is, when will this country stop making us choose between food and data?
