My father's last lesson came through a bag of rice

Two years ago, my father call me one evening. He say, Amina, come and see something. I go to his store in Kano market. He point to a bag of rice and say, open am. I open am, inside I see small stones mixed with the rice. He say, you see this? This is why some people fail. They mix stones with their product to increase weight. But when the customer discover, they never come back. He tell me, in business, your name is your capital. If you lose your name, you lose everything. That day, I understand something. My father never cheat anybody in 35 years. He build trust slowly, like building a house brick by brick. When Fatima steal my database and run to Lagos, I remember that bag of rice. I remember say stones don't last. But trust, when you build am properly, e go outlast any betrayal. I rebuild my company with that same principle. No shortcuts. No stones inside the rice.
