PFIPC Scandal: Fake Agency Director Adeniyi Adeyemi to Face Court Tomorrow

Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man who allegedly ran a fake presidential agency from the Federal Secretariat in Abuja, will be arraigned in the Federal High Court tomorrow. The police have charged him and two others with eight counts of forgery and impersonation. This is the PFIPC scandal that has embarrassed the government.

The court documents show that Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila is listed as a witness, along with civil servants from the Accountant General's office and a Deputy Superintendent of Police. The police say Adeyemi operated this fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council from the 2nd floor of Phase III of the Federal Secretariat. He even opened accounts with the CBN and got approvals from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs using a fake appointment letter dated March 8, 2024.

President Tinubu has now given the ICPC 30 days to investigate the whole thing. How did one man set up a fake agency inside the Federal Secretariat, employ people, and operate for over a year without anyone noticing? Who signed off on those approvals?
