I caught my mother stealing from my savings since I was 15

I am 23 now, working in a bank in Ikeja. Since I was 15, I saved every kobo from holiday jobs, bursary, and later my salary. My mother knew about my savings account. She said she was helping me manage it.

Two weeks ago I needed money for my NYSC relocation. I went to the bank to withdraw. The balance was ₦47,000. I had saved over ₦1.2 million in eight years. The teller showed me withdrawals every month for the last six years. Small amounts, ₦20,000 here, ₦35,000 there. Always to the same account. My mother's account.

I confronted her. She cried and said she used it for my younger siblings school fees, for food when things were hard. She said I would understand when I have children. I don't know what to feel. I love her but that money was my future. She never asked. She just took. How do you rebuild trust with your own mother?
