Peter Obi's airport drama: Guilty man crying or victim of system?

So Temitope Ajayi, President Tinubu's media aide, has called Peter Obi a guilty man crying the most over this airport parking issue. He even used a Yoruba proverb 'asunkun ro ejo' to describe Obi. This is the same Peter Obi who claimed his car was clamped unjustly at Abuja airport as part of a plot to frustrate him.

But Festus Keyamo, the Aviation Minister, released CCTV footage showing something different. According to Keyamo, Obi arrived at the domestic terminal on July 4 at 8:28pm in a vehicle driven by a police officer. After dropping Obi, the driver parked in a designated drop-off zone and left the car unattended while entering the terminal. That is against airport regulations. So the N25,000 fine is not unreasonable.

Now Ajayi wants Obi to recant his deliberate mischaracterisation. But here is the thing — Obi's supporters will say this is just another attempt to silence him. They will claim the system is always against him. But be honest with yourself: if CCTV shows your driver parked wrongly, why not just apologise and pay the fine? Why make it a national issue about persecution? Am I the only one that thinks Obi should just accept he was wrong this time?
