Atiku exposes Tinubu's priority: campaign rally over kidnapped children
4 months ago
Atiku Abubakar has dropped a truth bomb that many of us were already thinking but did not want to say out loud. He noted that it is quite striking and shocking that the Oyo schoolchildren and their teacher were released on the very day the APC launched its 'Door-to-Door' campaign for the 2027 presidential election. That timing is not coincidental. It is political calculation at its most cynical.
In his statement released yesterday, Atiku said the commander-in-chief is more than a constitutional title, it is a moral responsibility. He asked a very simple question: why was the president's first campaign about re-election and not about rescuing innocent children who had spent weeks in captivity? He said the first campaign of any responsible administration must be the campaign to rescue its citizens, restore security and reassure anxious families. Politics can wait, the lives of innocent children cannot.
I have been a civil servant for thirty years and I have seen governments come and go. But I have never seen an administration so openly consumed by re-election politics while basic security fails. The question I keep asking myself is this: if your own child was among those kidnapped, would you be launching a campaign rally or would you be in the war room? Let that question sit with the president.
