I Carried Olosho for Two Years in Aba. The Real Money Was Not What You Think.
This was back in 2021, during my NYSC year. I was 24, posted to Aba, and my allowance was 33,000 naira. My rent alone was 25,000. I was eating garri and groundnut for weeks before I met Blessing.
Blessing was my neighbor. She was 22, fine, and always had money. She told me her business was "escort" , but in Aba, we call it carrying olosho. She said I could make 50k in one night if I was serious. I laughed. Then I thought about my empty stomach.
I started small. Weekends only. The first client was a spare parts dealer from Ariaria market. He gave me 45,000. I felt disgusted but I paid my rent that month. The money was too sweet, omo. I started going out three, four times a week. I was making 120k-150k monthly. For a corper, that was life-changing.
The girls taught me the rules. Never use your real name. Never go to their house. Never let them take photos. Some clients were gentle, some were rough. One man brought his wife along , she watched. I wanted to run but the money was already in my purse. I stayed.
I carried olosho for two years, even after NYSC. I bought a phone, a laptop, sent money home. But the thing nobody tells you is that the money changes you. I started looking at men as wallets. I lost respect for myself slowly, like water dripping on stone. One night in 2023, a client slapped me because I refused to do something. I looked at myself in the mirror after and I did not recognize the person staring back.
I stopped that night. I went back to my village, stayed with my mother for three months. I am 28 now, working a normal job in Umuahia. The money is small but the mirror is kind to me again.
The lesson: Some money comes with a receipt you cannot afford to pay. The receipt is your soul. If you are young and reading this and thinking of carrying olosho , ask yourself what you are willing to lose. Because you will lose it. Just a matter of time.
