Eight people dead and the police are already arguing with survivors about the real number.

The police say eight, but residents claim ten or sixteen killed by suspected armed herdsmen in Benue, and they're busy correcting the body count instead of stopping the attacks. Is it still a massacre if the official figures don't match what the community saw with their own eyes?
