The military finally freed 44 abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, but the rescue came after two teachers were killed in captivity, with one beheading even posted online to pressure the government. The survivors spent 56 days being told by their captors that the state had abandoned them, slowly losing hope as their colleagues were murdered. With bandits now demanding ransoms in viral videos, can we honestly say our security agencies are winning this fight, or are we just counting the dead while celebrating the survivors?
