My cousin just wrote WAEC and the fee difference is painful

My younger cousin just finished writing WAEC in Ondo. The school asked for ₦25,000 for the registration. I remember when I wrote mine in 2011, it was about ₦7,000. In this economy, that increase is just wicked.

I saw ASUSS saying education shouldn't be a revenue generating means. The thing is, they are right. But the government will keep increasing it because they know parents will pay. There is no option. You cannot tell your child not to write WAEC. So they squeeze you and you just manage.

I calculated what it cost my uncle for this one child. Transport to school for extra lessons, the registration, practice materials, feeding. Over ₦50,000 for one exam. For a family that doesn't have steady income. It's giving struggle but we call it normal.
