I just realized Lagos trains are the only place nobody looks at their phone

I took the blue line yesterday from Yaba and I swear I saw something supernatural. Everybody just... staring. Into space. At each other. At the ceiling. One man was counting his fingers like he was bored of his own hands.

On a normal day in Lagos you can't even make eye contact with your own mother without checking Insta first. But inside that train? Phones stayed in pockets. No data network inside so we all just sat there, being humans the old way, and it was UNCOMFORTABLE.

I almost started a conversation with the woman beside me. Almost introduced myself. Then the train stopped at Oshodi and everybody pulled out their phones again like nothing happened. Lagos is weird sha.
