Japa people are just running from Lagos traffic, not better opportunities

I said what I said. Every week I see young lawyers in my chambers talking about japa to Canada or UK like it is the promised land. My brother, I have been to London twice for conferences. The underground trains there smell like something died. The rent for a one-bedroom flat will make your eyes water.

Meanwhile in Lagos, you can be a landlord at 45 if you play your cards right. I know a man who bought land in Ikorodu in 2010 for 500k. That same plot now goes for 25 million naira minimum. You cannot tell me that kind of return exists in Toronto. The people running abroad are running from Lagos traffic, not from lack of opportunity. Traffic is bad but it is not a reason to abandon your country.

Abeg who here has a relative abroad who is not still paying rent after 5 years? Let them prove me wrong.
