Generator fuel cost this month made me reconsider my life choices

Just ran the numbers on my generator fuel consumption for June. My inverter setup is supposed to be a backup, but with NEPA doing their usual thing, the generator runs 12 hours daily minimum. I spent ₦187,000 on fuel in 30 days. That's more than some people's rent.

I live in VI, work remotely for a US company, earn in dollars. The math still hurts. At ₦1,360 to $1, that's $137 just to keep my lights on so I can earn dollars to pay for more fuel. It's a circular nightmare that only Lagos understands.

My cousin in Canada sends me pictures of his electricity bill. $80 CAD for a month. 24/7 power. No noise. No fumes. No waking up at 3am to refill a tank. I'm not saying I want to japa, but the numbers are making a strong argument for me.
