NBS just drop the June 2026 inflation report and e get some things wey go make you think twice. Overall headline inflation cool down small to 15.91% from 15.93% in May, and year-on-year e don drop from 25.29% wey we see for June 2025. But when you check state by state, the story different well well.

Niger state dey carry the highest headline inflation at 42.23%, Kogi follow with 41.59%, and Abuja third with 39.91%. Kogi even lead for food inflation at 53.02% , that one na pure wahala for anybody wey dey buy garri, rice, or beans for that place. Meanwhile Imo get the lowest at 19.47% and Ebonyi at 20.79%. The gap between states too wide, e mean say your location determine how far your salary go stretch. Urban inflation dey rise month-on-month at 2.13% while rural areas slow down to 0.52% , so city people like us for Enugu dey feel the heat pass village people.

CPI don climb to 143.0 points from 140.7 in May, so prices still dey go up even if the rate slow small. My own question be say with Niger at 42% and Kogi food inflation above 50%, how ordinary person wey dey earn minimum wage suppose survive? The government need to look beyond national averages and target these high-inflation states before things worsen.
