Content Creator Odogwu Asaba Arrested After 21-Year-Old Girl Dies

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of popular Asaba-based content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, known widely as Odogwu Asaba, in connection with the alleged rape and subsequent death of a 21-year-old woman. According to a statement from the Command, Ogbonna was taken into custody on Tuesday following a petition filed by human rights activist Comrade Israel Joe.

Police say the suspect allegedly invited the victim to Asaba on June 1, 2026, under the pretense of training her in content creation, a program he promoted on his social media platforms. She was taken to a hotel where she was allegedly raped and physically assaulted. After returning home visibly distressed, the young woman recorded a video detailing her ordeal and later died after ingesting a toxic substance. The Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has ordered a thorough investigation, and preliminary reports indicate the suspect has made useful statements to investigators.
