🤫 Confess⛪ Church Gist

I Was the Church Secretary. I Saw Where the Tithes Really Went.

Back in 2022, I was the secretary for a popular Pentecostal church in Jos. The kind where the pastor drives a 2020 Lexus and the members are still struggling to pay school fees. I saw everything because I was the one typing the reports and reconciling the accounts every month.

One month, the pastor announced a special building fund offering. Members sold their properties, widows brought their savings, some people even took loans. We raised over 12 million naira in six weeks. But the building never got built. Instead, I watched the pastor buy a new house for his second wife in Abuja and send his son to a private university in Cyprus. The money was transferred in bits, with different account names, so nobody would notice.

I said nothing because I needed the job. My own rent was three months overdue. But every Sunday I would stand and sing 'I will bless the Lord at all times' while knowing exactly where the blessings were going. The worst part was when the pastor called me into his office and said, 'Sister, God told me to tell you that your breakthrough is coming. Just keep serving faithfully.' Omo, I knew it was a lie. But I said 'Amen' because what else could I do?

I resigned last year. I told myself I would expose everything, but fear held me. Now I just pray for those members who are still there, still believing, still waiting for their breakthrough that will never come from that man's hands. The lesson I carry: never trust a pastor who lives better than the people he preaches to. The Bible says by their fruits you shall know them. The fruit was a house in Abuja, and the seeds were the tears of widows.
