Ebonyi Police Insist On Autopsy For Mary Habila Despite Family Objection
4 months ago
The Ebonyi State Police Command has insisted on a post-mortem examination for 26-year-old physiotherapist Mary Habila, who died at the residence of Minister of Works Senator David Umahi. Police spokesperson SP Joshua Ukandu said in a statement dated July 15 that the procedure is necessary to determine the true cause of death, even though her family has opposed it.
According to the police, Mary Habila was part of the medical team attached to the minister and had accompanied him to his hometown in Uburu. She was found dead in a room within the minister's compound. The DPP has advised that only an autopsy can determine the cause of her sudden death, noting that she was alone at the time and was not known to be ill.
The family insists they do not want their daughter's body touched. But the police say they will proceed once the family or their representative is present. This case is generating serious questions about what really happened in that house.
