Appeal Court just told the National Assembly: your electoral law can't bully political parties anymore

The Court of Appeal has struck down sections of the Electoral Act that forced parties to use only the membership register they submitted to INEC and to choose between direct primaries or consensus. This means political parties can now decide their own nomination rules without legislative interference. If the constitution says a person is qualified to run, no subsidiary law can disqualify them , so who really controls party democracy in Nigeria: the lawmakers or the parties themselves?
