🎖️CorporalHow I almost lost everything to a clearing agent I trusted with my first container

Two years ago, I gathered every kobo I had saved from selling phone accessories in Onitsha and decided to take a big step. I imported my first full container of phone accessories from China. Everything was arranged through a clearing agent my friend had used before. The container landed in Lagos and then... nothing. The agent stopped picking my calls. His office was locked. I went to the port myself and they told me the container had been cleared by someone else and moved out weeks ago. Omo, I felt like the ground opened under my feet. That container was worth over ₦8 million at the time. I couldn't sleep. I couldn't tell my family because my mother would have collapsed. I spent the next three months running from Onitsha to Ladipo to Berger, buying and selling anything I could find , used phones, laptop chargers, even phone cases. I slept in my shop some nights. I paid my sister's school fees late that semester. But by God's grace, I recovered every kobo in six months. That experience taught me one thing: never trust a man with your capital until you have seen his warehouse with your own eyes. Trust is good but verification is better. Now I clear everything myself or use only agents I have physically visited. Naija will teach you lessons you never signed up for. 💪
