Sabrina said she can't marry a man earning less than her. I think she's right

I saw what Sabrina said and honestly, my first reaction was to shake my head. Then I sat with it and thought about the young couples I counsel in Enugu. The ones where the wife earns more and the husband's ego cannot handle it. The ones where the man is struggling and the woman is tired of carrying the financial load alone.

Look at it this way. Marriage is already hard in this economy. If a woman is earning well and she marries a man who earns less, she will eventually start to resent him. Not because she is proud but because life in Nigeria does not give you room to relax. Rent is high, school fees are high, food is high. If she is the one solving all the problems, she will begin to ask herself why she even married.

Our people say a woman's husband is her crown. But if the crown is plastic, she will know. I am not saying money is everything but I have seen too many marriages break because the financial imbalance was not addressed from the beginning. Sabrina knows what she wants and she is honest about it. That is better than pretending and suffering later. What do you think, is it wrong for a woman to want a man who earns at least what she earns?
