Bwala just confirmed what many of us have been suspecting for years
4 months ago
Daniel Bwala, President Tinubu's Special Adviser on Policy Communication, went on The Link Up Podcast yesterday and basically confirmed what every Nigerian with eyes has been saying for the past decade. He said we cannot rule out the possibility that there are agents of terrorists inside the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force. This is not a conspiracy theory anymore. This is the presidency itself admitting that the people we pay to protect us may be working for the people trying to kill us.
Bwala specifically recalled that our soldiers and policemen have been arrested in connection with terrorism. He said, and I quote, "You cannot rule out the facts that they may have one or two agents in the army, anywhere else." He even compared it to Edward Snowden working for the US National Security Agency. So the question is not whether it is happening. The question is how deep does this rot go? If a presidential aide can say this publicly, what do the security chiefs know that they are not telling us?
I have been a civil engineer in Ibadan for over twenty years. I have seen contracts awarded to build police stations that never materialised. I have seen soldiers manning checkpoints who cannot even speak proper English. And now we are told that some of these same people may have sworn allegiance to terrorists. We are spending billions on security votes every year. And for what? So that Boko Haram can have informants inside the barracks? So that bandits can know when the military is coming? This country is a theatre of the absurd. Be honest, when last did you feel genuinely safe on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway?
