139 million poor Nigerians is Tinubu's scorecard - ADC

The African Democratic Congress just dropped a heavy statement on President Tinubu. They say he should resign instead of seeking re-election because of the World Bank report that 139 million Nigerians now live below the poverty line. That is 60% of our population. ADC National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said this is Tinubu's scorecard and on account of this catastrophic failure alone he should be thinking about stepping down.

The party also called out the reliance on palliative programmes saying temporary handouts cannot fix the root of poverty and hunger. They said the government should be reducing insecurity in farming communities and lowering energy costs instead. The ADC statement hit hard with this line: 'Hunger is the most honest measure of economic performance because it cannot be manipulated.'

139 million people. That is almost all of us or someone we know. And the government keeps talking about increased revenue and foreign reserves like those numbers mean anything when families cannot afford garri. Which one of these economic indicators has put food on your table?
