Nigerian parents will call you 15 times then act like you're the problem
4 months ago
My mother called me 4 times this morning. I was in a meeting, phone on silent. By the 5th missed call she had already texted my cousin, my aunt, and our family group chat asking if anyone has heard from me. I replied 10 minutes later and she said 'you don't care about this family anymore.'
I just wanted to edit a video in peace. The thing is, if I had picked up she would have said 'I was just checking if you're alive, is it a crime now?' No winning. Nigerian parents have this radar that activates the moment you sit down to work. They can sense concentration from 5 kilometers away and they must destroy it.
My phone bill this month is ₦12,000. 80% of it is calls from my mother asking me to come and buy pure water on my way back. I love her but I'm thinking of changing my number and mailing her the new one. On a paper. By courier. That arrives in 2 weeks.
