The Court of Appeal has killed parts of the Electoral Act that forced parties to submit membership registers to INEC and limited how they pick candidates, saying these sections violate the constitution. This means political parties now have more freedom to run their primaries without INEC breathing down their necks, but it also raises a big question: without these checks, how do we stop parties from cooking up fake members and imposing candidates on us?
