Three governors blocked Peter Obi from entering their states
4 months ago
Peter Obi yesterday revealed that three state governors stopped him from coming into their states. He said this during an interview with Sun newspaper. He didn't name the governors or the states but the implication is clear — some people are scared of what he represents going into 2027.
Obi said, and I quote: "I have tried to go to about three states, but the governors would say that I shouldn't come. The question is: don't we have freedom of movement in Nigeria? Why would anybody tell me not to come to a state?" He also said he was told his life would be in danger if he came. This is not the first time — Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo warned him in July 2025 not to come without security clearance.
So we have a former governor and presidential candidate being blocked from entering states by sitting governors. What exactly are they afraid of? His message? His supporters? Or the fact that he might expose something? Because if your record is clean, you don't block anyone from coming to your state. You welcome them and let the people decide.
