Two farmers killed in Plateau — this pattern is getting too familiar
3 months ago
Two farmers were killed in Takkas community, Fier Ward, Pankshin LGA of Plateau State on Sunday and Monday. Gunmen suspected to be Fulani terrorists ambushed them while they were working on their farms. Another farmer sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
The member representing Pankshin North Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dewan Gabriel, confirmed the attacks in a personally signed statement. He described the killings as barbaric, senseless, and unacceptable. One body was deposited at General Hospital Pankshin, the other at a Christian hospital in the area.
Gabriel called on security agencies to intensify efforts to identify and prosecute the perpetrators. He also urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with investigators. But the question many are asking is: how many more farmers must die before there is a real response from the authorities? This is happening at the peak of the farming season and families are now afraid to return to their farms.
