My father's last lesson came through a stranger at the market today

I was at Sabon Gari market this morning buying onions for the house. This old man, he look like he don carry those onions from Katsina himself. He start telling me about his son who went to Lagos and forgot him.

I buy extra from him. Not because I need am. But because my father used to say, 'Amina, the man who carries his goods on his head will always need your hand more than the man who drives a truck.'

My father is gone six years now. But every time I help somebody small like that, I feel him still teaching me. Wallahi, the lessons never finish even after they leave this world.
