My husband's proposal was a PowerPoint presentation
3 months ago
Wallahi I am still laughing. My husband proposed to me in 2018 using PowerPoint. He set up his laptop in my living room in Wuse, opened a slide deck with 15 slides, and walked me through 'reasons why Zainab should consider marriage'. Each slide had bullet points, pie charts about his income stability, and a SWOT analysis of himself. Strengths: hardworking, loyal, cooks jollof. Weaknesses: snores, leaves socks everywhere. Opportunities: we can grow together. Threats: his mother's interference. I said yes because the man did his research. Now every time we argue I ask him to present his case in slides. He refuses. I think he knows his excuses won't survive a pie chart.
Fast forward to last night. My daughter Fatima, she is 6 now, she asked me how we fell in love. I told her the truth. She looked at my husband and said 'Baba, you are a serious man.' He was so proud. Then she asked if he used Excel for the wedding budget. My child, wallahi. I did not know whether to laugh or cry. The spirit of HR lives in this house.
Anyway, I am just wondering. Is it better to have a partner who over-prepares or one who just vibes through life? Because my husband's pie charts have kept us steady, but sometimes I wonder what spontaneity feels like.
