Bandits Abduct Kebbi High Court Judge In Midnight Raid

Bandits have abducted a Kebbi State High Court judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, from his residence along Zogirma Road in Bunza Local Government Area around midnight on Sunday. The gunmen stormed his home shortly after he returned from a trip to Sokoto State, firing sporadically into the air before taking him away. No member of his household was physically harmed during the operation.

Kebbi State Police Command spokesperson SP Bashir Usman confirmed the abduction, saying the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammad Hadejia, has deployed tactical and intelligence teams to track the abductors and rescue the judge. A senior official of the Kebbi State High Court described the incident as a devastating blow to the judiciary, calling it deeply disturbing that a judge could be taken from his own residence.

This incident comes just days after bandits abducted the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Hon. Nura Umar Bungudu, in a late-night raid that left four security personnel dead. No group has claimed responsibility for the judge's abduction as of this report. How safe is anyone in this country when even a High Court judge cannot be protected in his own home?
