Primate Ayodele says kill kidnappers, no court — I agree

Primate Elijah Ayodele said yesterday that anyone caught kidnapping or committing terrorism should be killed immediately, not taken to court. He said there is no point charging them because they will not get the punishment they deserve. I have been thinking about this since I read it and honestly, I agree with him.

We have seen it too many times in this country. Bandits are arrested, taken to court, and then they either escape or get bail and go back to the bush to continue killing people. Meanwhile, families are paying ransoms they cannot afford and governors are negotiating with these criminals. Primate Ayodele even said those who pay ransom should also be arrested. That part got me because it is true — when you pay, you fund the next kidnapping.

I know people will say this is against human rights or due process. But tell me, what due process do kidnappers give their victims? They kill, maim, and destroy families. The Minister of Defence already gave a shoot-at-sight order for terrorists. If we can do that in the field, why should we give them a courtroom platform to waste time and money? The question is simple: are we serious about ending insecurity or not?
