Presidency calls Peter Obi a 'political nomad' after Channels TV interview
3 months ago
Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, has taken a sharp swipe at Peter Obi over his Sunday interview on Channels Television. In a statement posted on his X account yesterday, Onanuga described the interview as a 'PR disaster' and accused Obi of distorting facts about his political career.
Onanuga specifically attacked Obi's movement across political parties, calling him a 'political nomad' who abandons parties when they no longer serve his ambitions. He contrasted this with Tinubu's consistent progressive ideology across multiple party changes from SDP to APC. He also alleged that Obi left parties rather than rebuilding them, saying 'you do not build; you always want to reap where you did not sow.'
The question is: when the ruling party has failed Nigerians on every metric — from security to economy to fuel prices — does attacking the opposition candidate's party-hopping really score any points? Or is this just deflection from the real issues facing ordinary Nigerians today?
