Team Nigeria has now bagged six gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, with Rafiatu Folashade Lawal breaking records in weightlifting while another teammate, Onome Didih, also crushed records just hours earlier. Our weightlifters and para powerlifters are carrying the country on their backs, yet how many of us can name even half of these champions? Is it time we stopped celebrating only football and started giving our real gold medalists the recognition they deserve?
