My Uncle's Wife and I Crossed a Line in Calabar. Now I Can't Even Look at Myself.

This was back in 2021, during my NYSC in Calabar. I was 23, posted to a primary school in Akim. My uncle's wife, Auntie Bose, was 38 then. She had been married to my mother's younger brother for 15 years. They had two children.

She used to come visit me at my PPA, bringing food, checking if I was okay. I thought she was just being a good aunt. Omo, I was naive. One evening, she came late, said her car had issues and she needed to stay over. I believed her.

That night, she came into my room. I was confused, but I didn't stop her. She said I reminded her of my uncle when they first married. I won't lie , I had never been touched like that before. It went on for three months. Every time she visited, something happened. I told myself it was just physical, that I was young and she was lonely.

But then my uncle found out. He didn't confront me directly. He just stopped talking to me. At family gatherings, he would look through me. Auntie Bose stopped coming to Calabar. I never saw her again.

Now I am 28, and I still think about it. Not with desire , with shame. I was not the victim. I was a willing participant. But I was also 23, far from home, and she was the only person who seemed to care. The lesson I learned is that loneliness can make you cross lines you never thought you would. And once you cross them, there is no going back. You just have to live with the person you became.
