Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has condemned the attack on Efeyi community in Ugboju District of Otukpo LGA, vowing that the perpetrators will face justice. The attack, allegedly carried out by suspected armed herders in the early hours of Tuesday, left several residents dead and many others injured.

In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia described the attack as a crime against the peaceful people of Benue State. He said, "The bandits must pay for their crime against the peaceful people of our state." The governor also commended the police for their swift response, which led to the neutralisation of two suspected attackers during a gun battle.

Governor Alia warned those seeking to displace residents through violence, stating, "Benue land is for Benue people. Those who think they can come and push the people away and take over should think twice." He assured residents of continued support for security agencies to protect lives and property. How many more communities must bleed before these attacks stop?
