Tinubu tells Catholic bishops INEC is neutral, those crying wolf are afraid of their own shadows

President Bola Tinubu told the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria yesterday that INEC is completely neutral and anyone crying about the 2027 elections is just afraid of their own shadow. He said this at the State House in Abuja while receiving the bishops led by Most Rev. Matthew Ndagoso.

The bishops had urged him to guarantee free and fair elections in 2027 as part of his legacy. But Tinubu fired back saying, "INEC is neutral. They have never intimidated anyone. If political opponents are crying wolf, maybe they are afraid of their own shadows and uncertainty in the company they keep, not me."

He also said the economy has stabilised, ASUU is no longer on strike, and security forces are getting more equipment. The man is already campaigning for 2027 and we are still in 2026. Is anyone buying this confidence or is it just noise before the storm?
