Peter Obi says Nigerians are hungry, insecure, and harassed under Tinubu. Is he wrong?
Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, said yesterday that Nigerians are facing hunger, insecurity, and harassment under President Bola Tinubu's administration. He made the remarks during a public address, insisting that the current government has failed to protect citizens or improve their living conditions.
Before anyone jumps to defend the government, let us think. We all see the queues at filling stations, the prices of garri and rice in the market, the kidnappings on the Abuja-Kaduna road, and the way security agents harass ordinary people at checkpoints. Is Obi lying? Or is he simply saying what we all experience daily but are afraid to voice?
Some will say he is just politicking ahead of 2027. But even if he is, does that make his words false? The question is not whether Obi is right or wrong, but whether we are ready to admit that our reality matches his description. Be honest, are you better off today than you were two years ago?
