Tinubu drops ₦53.3 trillion FAAC figure, governors left with no excuse
3 months ago
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has challenged state governors to deliver on infrastructure, revealing that the three tiers of government received a record ₦53.3 trillion from FAAC between March 2023 and May 2026. He made this known during a meeting with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and also defended his strict no-ransom policy, referencing the successful Oriire rescue operation.
Now, ₦53.3 trillion in three years is not small money by any standard. If governors still cannot fix roads and schools with that kind of allocation, then the problem is not lack of funds but lack of will. Meanwhile, the Benin-Ore Expressway is completely submerged by flooding, and a video from Delta State shows residents risking their lives scooping fuel from a leaking tanker in Asaba. So we have money at the top and chaos on the ground.
How do we hold these governors accountable when the funds are already public knowledge?
