Obidient leaders defect to Seyi Tinubu, promise 12 million votes

Isaac Balami, the former Deputy Campaign Manager for the Obi/Datti ticket, led Obidient leaders and professionals to meet Seyi Tinubu in Abuja on Friday. They formally joined the APC and pledged to deliver 12 million votes to President Tinubu in 2027. Balami said, "Politics is driven by interests, and based on their experiences in the Obidient Movement, they believe those interests were neither recognised nor protected."

Some of the Obidients who spoke alleged neglect and unfair treatment during the Obi campaign. They said they abandoned families and spent personal money only to receive no appreciation. One speaker urged Nigerians to "sweep away papa and mama with the broom." Seyi Tinubu welcomed them, saying, "Our movement is inclusive, and everyone will be treated fairly."

So the movement that shook the establishment in 2023 is now splitting. Six million votes they claim they delivered, and now they want to double it for the other side. How many of these people are genuine converts and how many are just hungry for recognition?
