Wike just exposed Amaechi and Atiku for 2027. Who is fooling who?
Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, went on a live radio interview in Port Harcourt this Saturday and basically declared that Rotimi Amaechi as Atiku Abubakar's running mate for 2027 is a dead weight. He said Amaechi lacks the political capital to deliver Rivers State or the South-South for the ADC ticket. The man did not mince words when he listed Amaechi's failures: he couldn't produce a successor as governor, he couldn't give Buhari 25% as DG in 2015, and he couldn't get the President 25% in 2019 as minister and DG.
Wike even quoted Amaechi's own words from national television, where Amaechi proudly said he was part of the group that kicked out Goodluck Jonathan, a South-South man. Wike's point is simple: if Amaechi sabotaged a South-South president, how will he suddenly sell a northern candidate to the same region? He said, and I quote, "He didn't want a South-South person to complete his tenure as president. So what we will take is vice president." That is a direct hit on Amaechi's credibility in his own backyard.
I have said it before and I will say it again: Atiku's desperation is showing. Picking Amaechi is not strategy, it is a gamble that insults the intelligence of Rivers voters. The man has baggage heavier than a container ship, and Wike just reminded everyone. The question is, will Atiku listen or will he keep making the same mistakes that have cost him the presidency four times? Be honest, do you really think Amaechi can win Rivers for Atiku in 2027?
