The defence team is now saying Nnamdi Kanu was literally minutes away from walking free in 2022, but the lawyers they paid good money to failed to file one simple objection that would have shut down the government's stay of execution. Instead of hitting the jurisdiction angle, they were busy writing counter-affidavits and debating merits while the man stayed in DSS custody for 14 extra months. If your own lawyer's mistake is the reason you're still in detention, how is that not a betrayal worse than the government's own lawlessness?
