My mother called me yesterday. She said her phone don spoil, the screen just go black. I told her, Mama, let me just buy you a new one. You don use that Tecno since 2019.
She said no. She said she knows a man for Ariaria wey go fix am for #2,500. I told her the screen alone na #18,000. She said the man go do magic. My own mother believe say electronics get miracle workers wey dey work for less than the price of a plate of food.
She went. The man opened the phone, shook his head like a pastor seeing a stubborn case, and told her the motherboard don die. She still paid him #2,000 for 'diagnosis'. Now she's asking me to lend her money for a new phone. I should have just bought the phone from the start. But no, na Nigerian parent. They will spend #5,000 to save #500, then come back to you for the real money. God is involved, but the math is not.
