Kenneth Okonkwo tells Tinubu to resign and go in peace before 2027
3 months ago
Kenneth Okonkwo of the ADC appeared on Channels Television's Sunrise Daily on Friday and told President Bola Tinubu to resign instead of waiting for the 2027 election. He said the now overturned Abuja Federal High Court judgment that deregistered the ADC was designed to frustrate the opposition and coronate Tinubu. His exact words were, "Everything about this judgment is queued towards frustrating the opposition and trying to coronate Tinubu according to the Minister of Aviation and not elect him in 2027 because Tinubu by his performance has gone back to Bourdillion with one flight ticket by 2027."
He did not stop there. Okonkwo went on to describe the daily reality of insecurity, asking if the administration's record is in the area of insecurity. He mentioned people being massacred in Plateau and Benue, and people being beheaded in Oyo State, saying they want us to praise them for what they should have prevented. He even shared a personal story about his worker whose mother was kidnapped in Kaduna State and had two fingers broken because the family could not raise the hundreds of millions in ransom. He said, "These ones are not reported, the issue here is that Tinubu should not even allow the election to hold, he should resign and go in peace."
Now, I know some of you will say Okonkwo is just another politician seeking relevance. But let us be honest, when did we last hear a government official speak about insecurity with this kind of personal pain? When did we last see a ruling party member admit that people are being beheaded daily? The man is not even asking for a coup, he is simply saying if you cannot secure lives, step aside. Is that unreasonable in a democracy? Be honest, would you rather have a president who admits failure and leaves, or one who clings to power while bodies pile up?
